Niagra Canada

We crossed into Canada via the Rainbow Bridge. Here is the view of both Falls from my hotel room. We then walked down to a viewing area for a quick look at the falls and rainbow!

The Mount

After leaving the Vineyard we headed west for our first stop in the Berkshire Mountains. We visited Edith Wharton's home, The Mount. Edith Wharton bought the 113-acre Lenox property in 1902 and began to create an environment that would meet her needs as designer, gardener, hostess, and above all, writer. The gardens were very elegant!

Hancock Beach

Nice afternoon for a walk on Hancock beach followed by a little crabbing in the pond. It was tough going as many crabs escaped into the ocean during Hurricane Irene. We did manage to catch 6 large males which yielded about a pound of meat. We had an awesome crab dip!

Bi-Plane ride

Gorgeous day for a plane ride. Terry and Mary Etta were the only ones brave enough to give it a go. They really enjoyed the tour of Martha's Vineyard from the air!

Oak Bluffs

A little sightseeing in Oak Bluffs. A nice walk around the Methodist campground!

Let the Fall travels begin

My dear friends arrived on the Vineyard this week. Fred and Mary Etta drove up from Georgia last week. We first met in 1982 in Lubumbashi, Zaire and became instant friends. Every time we see each other it's like time has stood still. Terry and Keith, our British friends flew in from London. Terry also worked with us in Lubumbashi and we have stayed close since then. Here they are hanging over the side of the ferry arriving in Vineyard Haven! Let the fun begin!

America's pastime

Spent a great afternoon at the ballpark! It's nice to have one so close to home but the Nationals are not as exciting to watch as my Red Sox! But it's still baseball so most any game is a good one! The home team played the NY Mets and while they started out leading 2-0 they dropped the ball and lost 3-6. We had seats right behind home plate but they were in the very last row at the very top section - it was up there!

The field looked great! This was from the 3rd level - we were on the 5th!

The Presidential race! The home game tradition!

From the 1st level. Beer, get your beer!

Great scoreboard which can be seen from anywhere in the park

The view from our seats! I did bring binoculars!
